Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Very good service, polite, friendly and clean. The burgers and fries couldn't be made any better. Skip the dogs and Cincinnati chili, they were both served room temp when I was there in July.

Cold drab windy rainy days in Myrtle Beach what's the best recipe for the smile on your face? Their famous three way chili and grilled cheese WOW!! And the next time you go by try the great cheeseburgers and try it southern style add some chilly the very best in ALL of Myrtle Beach!! Also just as good enjoy in hot july I almost forgot the great fifty's and sixty's music

  • George H.

Great place to get a good meal on the cheap while in Myrtle Beach. It is a nice little burger joint. The burgers were a little thin but well seasoned. The fries were good too. Much better than the standard burger chains.

    (5)
  • Bill B.

My nickname is Burky, so I had to review this place. We thought it was an above average burger joint. It beats all the chains, for sure. Good cheeseburgers, GREAT fries, excellent ice cream, floats, and shakes. The steamed veggies were a nice touch, adding a bit of health to an otherwise unhealthy burger meal. Neat classic car photos abound, and the interior is reminiscent of a classic diner from the fifties or sixties. The place dates to the mid-80's, but the sentiment is still classic Americana. Go here for a cheap mood date.

  • Joy F.

Visiting for spring break and had the best burger here! Old school diner feel with great service! Kids get free ice cream with meal!

    (5)
  • Rhonda D.

Great little burger place! We both had burgers, fries and shakes. Our orders were taken in a friendly manner, food was quick and they clean the tables. They had a brisk take out business and drive through business - all with local plates.

    (3)
  • Walt W.

Food is amazing, service is great. It's a family owned restaurant that is steeped in American values and tradition. The Pasta salad is the best. The fried bologna sandwich is to die for, and the burgers are amazing. This doesn't even begin to tell you about the hot dogs, fries, and the hot cheese dip you can put in your fries.

    (5)
  • Ryan F.

Great good wonderful service. Nothing fancy no over complicated burgers just a flat top and basic toppings. Really great flavor!!! really solid food, good job guys. Even the french fries are off the chain. The place is laid out like a classic diner and they play old 50's rock and roll. Loved it. Save room for the ice cream if you can!!!

    (4)
  • Cindy J.

Oh wow!! This food was amazing... We got double burgers and fries. Kids got grilled chicken sandwiches and chili cheese dogs!!! We loved it!!! I highly recommend this place!!

    (5)
  • Anuj D.

Great fast food burger with tons of flavor because of the way they cook the patties. Fries reminded me of Burger King but the chili really stands out. Nice place for grabbing a quick bite.

    (4)
  • Bob P.

This place has a good diner style burgers. Burger is thin with crispy edges. Also enjoy their hot dog with chili, mustard, onions, and slaw.

    (4)
  • Amanda C.

I read the reviews and thought we'd give it a try. The burgers are awesome and a great value! And a kids meal comes with a free scoop of ice cream which was great. I'll definitely be eating there again!

  • Allo A.

The burgers n fries are delicious - I ordered the double - cheese burger w/everything and I strongly suggest you do to.

  • Wesley T.

This is a burger in a class all by its self. Fresh never frozen cooked to order. Just like the 50's burger joints of years past. Best milkshakes in town.

    (5)
  • Miles H.

Great burger place to go to. Love it. I'll go back. Also has a veggie burger and ice cream.

    (4)
  • Linda C.

Fun little place we discovered after a day on the beach. It's just a block over, so convenient location. Looks like an old-fashioned malt shop from the 1960s! We had burgers and shakes (what else?) and everything was delicious. They also have hot dogs and chili, ice cream, sandwiches and fries. It's perfect for lunch. Service was friendly and very quick too, and prices are reasonable. We will be back next time we're at MB.

    (5)
  • Karen P.

Best cheeseburgers and hotdogs in all of myrtle beach, period. Thin griddled patties of meat on the cheeseburgers and delicious toppings for the hotdogs. This is the way cheeseburgers and hotdogs are meant to be served!

    (5)
  • Blaire C.

Burkey's is the real deal! My trips to Myrtle Beach would not be complete without stopping here! I live in San Diego and have eaten at the number one burger joint on Drive ins, Diners and Dives and let me tell you this place is 10 folds better. The burgers are fresh, never frozen and cooked to perfection! And their fries OMG- you have to get a cheddar fry! Oh and the ice cream is the best ever, I don't know what they use but it is the soft creamy melt in your mouth type! If you are in Myrtle Beach you have to come here, if your not this place is worth the trip!!!!

  • Scot E.

Just finished eating our hamburgers and grilled hot dog. They would have gotten five stars, but they put ketchup on my hot dog after I asked for no ketchup. I am from Chicago...no ketchup on hot dogs!!! Anyways a small little hamburger joint that is clean and inexpensive. The hamburgers are thin and have a nice crust on them. They are very flavorful and made fresh for each order. The fries are thin, crispy and also made fresh for each order. The grilled dog was also fresh and had a little snap to it. Very flavorful even with the ketchup. I highly recommend this little joint.

    (4)
  • Cheri K.

Really Fast and friendly service. My burger was fantastic. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that my fries were only warm and mediocre compared to the great burger.

    (4)
  • Mollie M.

Great place! Been coming here for years. The burgers are made to order and are very tasty. Hehe I love Mollie so much (love ur boyfriend). The fries are hot and fresh, and are thin and light. The interior is cute and retro, yet modern. Very close to the beach and perfect for any visitors. COME TO BURKY'S!!!!!

    (5)
  • Amy P.

Great little diner with excellent burgers and shakes! Super great prices as well. I can imagine this place is probably packed at peak times as limited seating but definitely worth it. We are here on vacation and much prefer local spots to the typical tourist and chain traps and this place delivers!

    (5)
  • David W.

We are locals to Myrtle Beach and found out about Burkeys about 8years ago and have been coming here every week since. Best hamburgers on the beach, hands down! They also have a variety of other foods. If your a vegetarian, they make an awsome vegie burger. Kids meals come with icecream.

    (5)
  • Ashley O.

We ate ice cream, burgers, hotdogs and fries. The food was superb and the location is hard to miss. It was very clean...including bathrooms.

    (5)
  • Shuai W.

Good thing this place is a two hour drive from my house, if not I'd be a really fat kid... It ain't fancy, and they are not doing something that no one has ever seen before, but they do make a damn good burger. They also serve hot dogs/chili dogs, fried bologna sandwich, fries/cheese fries, and shakes. But let's talk about this burger, the star of the restaurant. The patty is super thin, really crispy around the edges, and super moist in the middle. The bun is just right, along with "catsup", mayo, yellow mustard, lettuce, onion, tomatoes, and pickles... Perfection

    (4)
  • Aisha N.

My husband and girls stopped here after a timeshare tour... the burgers were skinny, but homemade and delicious. My husband was upset that he only got a single patty. My daughters also ate their cheeseburger. The prices are so reasonable. Our only grip is that we cane ob our last day otherwise we would've come back again. The staff is friendly. If you live five guys you will love this place even more.

    (5)
  • Al W.

I had heard about Burky's from locals and read about it too. So of course I had to try it. It's small but convenient. The staff was exceptionally friendly The prices are good for a burger store. THe meat is fresh and not frozen and delicious! I had a double because the patties are thin. Fries were great. I left her full and satisfied

    (5)
  • Bryan L.

Went to Burky's based on what I had heard and what yelp said about it. This place is everything it's cracked up to be. Hamburgers are old school hamburgers and the shoe string fries are great. My kids loved the grilled cheese, pb&j, as well as the hot dog. My wife and I actually split a hot dog due to the fact they were supposed to be as good as the hamburgers. Once again, they delivered. Don't waste your money on the chain restaurants if you want a burger in Myrtle. Go to Burky's.

    (5)
  • Brandon S.

Got a bacon cheese burger and was good and the fries were perfect. The ice cream is good also.

    (4)
  • Mike V.

ehh it's a cheap burger joint.. the burgers have little meat.. not much better than a Wendy's . it's not bad, but from the previous review ratings I had higher expectations

    (2)
  • Richard J.

Solid burger place. Active in community. Fries are good, ice cream is yummy. Service is good. For a quick bite-Give Burky's a try.

    (3)
  • Zach Z.

Definitely a pleasant place to stop for lunch. Delicious hot dogs and burgers, all flat griddle cooked, and super fast. Kids meals come with free scoop of ice cream which delighted my two daughters. Quaint and clean, with extra friendly staff. I will come back again!

  • Janine B.

After beach & pool fun, plus it was pouring the rain, we didn't want to go back out for dinner...hubby volunteered to do a pick-up run...we chose Burky's Grill since it had good reviews & was close by. I had read the patties were thin, so my husband & I got double cheeseburgers. The reviews were right...very thin patties...was good for my child though. The burger over all was good. Not spectacular, but not bad. The fries were a little crunchy, but that was ok...I like crunchy. I felt as if the price was a little steep. We may or may not ever go back, but wouldn't rule it out. Wouldn't make a special trip for it though.

  • Dale F.

We stopped for lunch and was pleasantly surprised it's like stepping back in time, simple, fast service, excellent value and beats the chain burger places everyday. Outstanding Burgers, Fries and milk shakes. Can't wait for next trip to Myrtle Beach and Burky's Grill. Please don't change a thing.......... Sorry one thing I would add is onion rings to your menu.

    (5)
  • Michael C.

After 15 years of passing by, I finally tried them. Absolutely the very best burger on this or any other beach! Very fresh, tasty and cooked to order. The drive-through window could use a bit of TLC, and some fresh paint.

    (5)
  • Jessica B.

Great burger and hotdogs skinny fries which are our favorite. No wait all food is fresh and served immediately after ordering. The chili was also tasty which is hard to find at a "fast food" joint although this place is too good to be considered fast food. Only gave 4 stars based on no outside seating, We left the beach and headed out for a good burger based on reviews this was our spot if they had outside seating that would have been bomb! Beer would have been nice too

    (4)
  • Trevis S.

Pros: Good food, fast service even clean the table for you. Hot fries, hot food. Cons: no onion rings, thin burgers (order the double).

  • Jennifer J.

We were looking for an affordable lunch when leaving the Broadway area & stopped in here. The service was friendly & quick ( quicker than any big name fast food joint). Good was fantastic, best chili cheese dog I've had in a long time, nice shoe string fries that were crispy & hot. Cute diner atmospher

    (5)
  • Maxy F.

Great, affordable alternative from a fast food joint while on vaca! The hotdog & slaw my husband got was awesome! BBQ pork sand which was so-so. The burger & fries my son got was really good. Great and quick service!

  • Iowa C.

great tasting burger, i was worried at first, then i bit into the burger and had great flavor. I had to get a 2nd one, so if you hungry i say go for the double, i had the cheeseburger fry combo. I put mayo, lettuce onion. Not the best I have had, but for fast food and price near Dunes Resort this place was cheap and tasty. Would not suggest the chili by itself, was like sloppy joe meat mixture, probably ok on a hot dog.

    (4)
  • EDWARD W.

My wife and I love to try local places to eat. After some research, we tried Burky's. Yum, yum! I had a double cheeseburger combo and my wife had a grilled hotdog and cheese fries. The burger was a throwback to my younger days. Hot, juicy, and served wrapped in aluminum foil. Everything was great. Too bad it is not closer to my home. Well worth a try.

    (5)
  • RedStang S.

Good stuff. Got a Double hamburger, fries, and a drink for $6. Ice cream shakes were great and had 8 flavors to choose from. My only con was not seeing the cooks use gloves. I will definitely be back again.

  • Leslie P.

Fantastic! For a "fast food" place it doesn't resemble one. Great food. Friendly service. All around great.

    (5)
  • Alyssa T.

We ordered a burger combo and a grilled chicken sandwich combo and they were pretty good. Definitely satisfied our craving! But on the other hand, though it was good, there wasn't really anything special about the burgers. I got my burger with lettuce, tomato, and onion and to be honest, it tasted just like a junior cheeseburger deluxe from Wendy's which I like just as much. Also the menu is a little bit on the expensive side for what it is but overall, the service was good and the food was good.

    (3)
  • Megan S.

OMG that was delicious!! We were looking for a burger place and boy oh boy did we find one!! I love that it had the diner feel, but very good food! The burgers are good, fries were great, bologna sandwich was AWESOME!! After a great lunch we had ice cream and it was the perfect thing for lunch! The prices are great and I will go back next time we are in town!!!

    (5)
  • James O.

I come here often for the great burgers and chilli served over spaghetti. Nice folks run the place and its easy on the wallet. Ice cream is great too.

    (4)
  • Juan M.

Friendly burger and hot dog joint. Good value. Kids loved the ice cream included in the kids menu. Burgers are thin so if you are hungry go for the double. I asked the waitress for a sample of the chili and it was very tasty. Next time I will try the chili dogs.

Found this place after searching for "Best Burger Places in Myrtle Beach" and I have to admit, we were thoroughly impressed. Definitely fulfilled my pregnancy craving for a delicious burger and fries, and the service was top notch!! Will for sure be visiting again!

  • Donald M.

Cheap, delicious. Touristy without being irritating, and the fresh made and fresh cooked burgers are a can't miss in down at Myrtle. Fries good, too.

    (5)
  • Chris W.

I will always love Burky's Grill. This is the best burger joint in Myrtle Beach. Nothing beats the old school car guy hangout. Great burgers, 3 way chili and chating with fellow rodders. I suggest get a double cheeseburger combo, 3 way chili and the sweet tea. You will be glad you did.

    (5)
  • Josh A.

Don't know what it was about the burger, but it was pretty good. It wasn't really that big (actually kind of thin) or juicy, but the flavor was great. The fries had a nice salty balance as well. It's hard to write about something so simple as this place. Just trust me, it's good... simple, but good.

  • Dick S.

This is what kids eat at nursery schools, grannies eat in nursing homes, teens eat in high school cafeterias, and moms cook at home. This is the food we took all over the world. This is the food that the French jeer us about. It is satisfying, it is simple and it is cheap. Come to Burky's for well made hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, and grilled cheese. The hamburgers are particularly good and make me wonder why anyone would prefer any others. The building looks like something from the 1920's with its sleek and streamlined look both inside and out. A very pleasant alternative to the horrendous Disneyesque places serving seafood or so called home cooking. Its location is in the parking area of a very lackluster mall and a bit difficult to get to or away from, but what is not along the 17s?

    (4)
  • David H.

The burgers are better than the national chains by far - and my experience here is they're also better than the tourist destinations like Jimmy Buffet's venues. Our service was fast and the food was fresh and tasty. One suggestion for the owners - please tag the special orders. In our table of six, we had to unwrap and sort through each burger to determine who ordered what.

    (4)
  • Mike N.

Quick service and pretty good food. We had grilled chicken sandwiches, they were on the small side but tasted good, fries were good. I also tried a cup of chili, it said it was Cincinnati style, I didnt detect any cinnamon, indicative of that style, but it was still a.decent chili. It is definitely affordable, next time ill try a fresh burger.

  • Jenn L.

We visited this place once on a vacation 2 years ago. No real reason why we didn't return other than my husband's infatuation with a "hole in the wall" pizza joint further up King's Highway. This place had a good selection of food and personable staff. Great place to go that isn't "food chain" style but also won't break your budget.

    (4)
  • Will M.

Burky's burgers remind me of Wendy's, which is a good thing! The burgers are made fresh, the patty's are beefy and the produce is fresh and crisp, an awesome burger! The fries are a so so but not a no no.

  • Jeremy D.

Great place for a cheap lunch or dinner. Got two cheeseburger combos for less than $12. Fresh, griddled hamburger patties make all the difference. They almost have a crunch on the edges, which I loved. Dining room could use some updating.

Good hamburgers and 3-way chili (Cincinnati chili). Excellent prices on kid's meals. One of my family's favorite places to eat at the beach. Check out restaurant.com for $10 coupon.

Great fast food place without being a chain. We were on the lookout for a place to get a quick lunch before heading out for the afternoon. We didn't want a chain fast food so we ended up at Burky's. We were not disappointed. They have a basic menu, hamburgers and hot dogs. Grilled chicken, a few salads and stuffed baked potatoes. I ordered a hot dog combo with mustard, ketchup, chili and onions. The hot dog was grilled on the flat top and a good sized dog reaching just over the ends of the bun and not to big. The chili was good and didn't over power the dog. The onions were nice and minced. The hot dog came with shoestring fries that were good, but really nothing special. The wife ordered a burger that looked good. The meat seemed fresh. The burger was thin and cooked well on the flat top. The toppings were basic, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes and onions but were fresh. If you have been to Five Guys, the burger is very comparable. My son had a hot dog too and seemed to enjoy it. For desert I ordered a jr scoop of strawberry ice cream. The ice cream was nice and creamy and had a good strawberry flavor with lots of strawberry chunks. Overall a great experience and exactly what we were looking for.

We eat here once a week. Love the food. Get the chicken sandwich, all the way with cheese. Our daughter loves the free ice cream with her order. Great place to eat if you're looking for that diner experience...

Reminiscent of the old "diner" joints (but no counter) with fresh, juicy hamburgers and delish hot dogs. Small place but good for families with kids. Unbelievably low prices for a beach town, or anywhere. If you're looking for a not fancy, grab a bite to eat place, this will do the trick. On my short list of places for a quick lunch in Myrtle Beach.

Stopped with the family for hot dogs. Hot dogs were great and they have great prices. Only two complaints one the fries were a little soggy from grease and I like mine crunchy and second the bathrooms were dark and dingy. Next will try the fried Bologna. They actually throw it in the deep fryer!! Oh and you get a free scoop of ice cream with a kids meal and the kids meal is 4.20.

    (4)
  • Nathan B.

The thin burger tasted cheap, but was priced high. I could not finish mine. I tired the bologna sandwich and tossed it too. If you are looking for a good burger look some where else. The restaurant is clean the staff is nice.

Great service, food and price! Love this place!

  • Debi L.

Found this place on yelp. I would recommend if you want a quick inexpensive lunch or even light did nose. Service was quick. Hamburgers seemed to be made by hand, not frozen. Reminded me of a steak and shake type place. Located in village square in front of a strip mall. Check it out if you are in the area. We plan on coming back before we leave to try their shakes and ice cream.

Oh wow!! This food was amazing... We got double burgers and fries. Kids got grilled chicken sandwiches and chili cheese dogs!!! We loved it!!! I highly recommend this place!!

    (4)
  • Bob P.

This place has a good diner style burgers. Burger is thin with crispy edges. Also enjoy their hot dog with chili, mustard, onions, and slaw.

I read the reviews and thought we'd give it a try. The burgers are awesome and a great value! And a kids meal comes with a free scoop of ice cream which was great. I'll definitely be eating there again!

Excellent burgers and shakes. Thin meat which is a unique twist. Kids get ice cream with their meals!

  • Anuj D.

Great fast food burger with tons of flavor because of the way they cook the patties. Fries reminded me of Burger King but the chili really stands out. Nice place for grabbing a quick bite.

  • Sherry M.

Great little burger joint, fries so yummy!!!! Flat top grill cooking done well everything made fresh to order. Small place can get really crowded, glad we tried it

    (5)

    (4)

    (4)
  • Leslie P.

  • Larry M.

Very good service, polite, friendly and clean. The burgers and fries couldn't be made any better. Skip the dogs and Cincinnati chili, they were both served room temp when I was there in July.

    (3)
  • Joe M.

    (5)

    (4)

    (3)

    (4)

Perfection

Got a bacon cheese burger and was good and the fries were perfect. The ice cream is good also.

ehh it's a cheap burger joint.. the burgers have little meat.. not much better than a Wendy's . it's not bad, but from the previous review ratings I had higher expectations

Solid burger place. Active in community. Fries are good, ice cream is yummy. Service is good. For a quick bite-Give Burky's a try.

Definitely a pleasant place to stop for lunch. Delicious hot dogs and burgers, all flat griddle cooked, and super fast. Kids meals come with free scoop of ice cream which delighted my two daughters. Quaint and clean, with extra friendly staff. I will come back again!

After 15 years of passing by, I finally tried them. Absolutely the very best burger on this or any other beach! Very fresh, tasty and cooked to order. The drive-through window could use a bit of TLC, and some fresh paint.

Pros: Good food, fast service even clean the table for you. Hot fries, hot food. Cons: no onion rings, thin burgers (order the double).

Great, affordable alternative from a fast food joint while on vaca! The hotdog & slaw my husband got was awesome! BBQ pork sand which was so-so. The burger & fries my son got was really good. Great and quick service!

great tasting burger, i was worried at first, then i bit into the burger and had great flavor.

Good stuff. Got a Double hamburger, fries, and a drink for $6. Ice cream shakes were great and had 8 flavors to choose from. My only con was not seeing the cooks use gloves. I will definitely be back again.

Fantastic! For a "fast food" place it doesn't resemble one. Great food. Friendly service. All around great.

I come here often for the great burgers and chilli served over spaghetti. Nice folks run the place and its easy on the wallet. Ice cream is great too.

  • Christina K.

  • Nathan B.

The thin burger tasted cheap, but was priced high. I could not finish mine. I tired the bologna sandwich and tossed it too. If you are looking for a good burger look some where else. The restaurant is clean the staff is nice.

Great place to get a good meal on the cheap while in Myrtle Beach. It is a nice little burger joint. The burgers were a little thin but well seasoned. The fries were good too. Much better than the standard burger chains.

Visiting for spring break and had the best burger here! Old school diner feel with great service! Kids get free ice cream with meal!

Great little burger place! We both had burgers, fries and shakes. Our orders were taken in a friendly manner, food was quick and they clean the tables. They had a brisk take out business and drive through business - all with local plates.

Cheap, delicious. Touristy without being irritating, and the fresh made and fresh cooked burgers are a can't miss in down at Myrtle. Fries good, too.

  • Josh A.

Don't know what it was about the burger, but it was pretty good. It wasn't really that big (actually kind of thin) or juicy, but the flavor was great. The fries had a nice salty balance as well. It's hard to write about something so simple as this place. Just trust me, it's good... simple, but good.

The burgers are better than the national chains by far - and my experience here is they're also better than the tourist destinations like Jimmy Buffet's venues. Our service was fast and the food was fresh and tasty. One suggestion for the owners - please tag the special orders. In our table of six, we had to unwrap and sort through each burger to determine who ordered what.

Burky's burgers remind me of Wendy's, which is a good thing! The burgers are made fresh, the patty's are beefy and the produce is fresh and crisp, an awesome burger! The fries are a so so but not a no no.

Great place for a cheap lunch or dinner. Got two cheeseburger combos for less than $12. Fresh, griddled hamburger patties make all the difference. They almost have a crunch on the edges, which I loved. Dining room could use some updating.
